Niceville Guide
Located on the picturesque Boggy Bayou that opens up to Choctawhatchee Bay is the quaint town of Niceville. Originally named "Boggy Bayou", the town changed its name to Niceville in 1910 and has a rich history. For those that like to get outdoors, Niceville is an excellent place for exploring, kayaking, canoeing and has some of the best fishing in the South. Enjoy a walk and picnic in Turkey Creek Park or Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park. Nearby is the Air Force Armament Museum where you can see everything from an SR-71 Blackbird to a B-52. If you're military or a DoD civilian, you can play 36 holes at Eglin Golf Course. If you enjoy a good local craft beer, check out 3rd Planet Brewing. In the Fall, the Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival is a local favorite annual seafood and arts festival. Yes, I said mullet. =)
In October 2019, the Boggy Fest lineup includes country stars, Colt Ford, Trace Adkins, Michael Ray, and Jimmie Allen.
Niceville is also close to Destin and Miramar Beach for a day trip across the Mid-Bay Bridge for shopping or beach-going. For those who work at Eglin Air Force Base, it is an easy commute. If you are relocating to Niceville, consider your options in Bluewater Bay, as there are a wide range of homes and types available. Niceville Real Estate is hot right now.
